Thunder Gulch - La Gueriere (Lord At War)
1997 Chestnut 16hh

Race Record: 4 starts in the USA for 1 win, 1 third, 1 fourth. US$34,700.
In 2000: Santa Anita Maiden Special Weight (1m).

Brilliance is a very nice type with good conformation, temperament and, most importantly, a strong pedigree of Group performers - all evidence of his $1.1 million US dollar yearling price at Keenland!

Brilliant Winner - Brilliance won his first start by two lengths running against 3 year olds and older horses. He was in training with Wayne Lukas and was the stable's prime hope for the Kentucky Derby that year before suffering an injury.

Brilliance is the first son of Champion USA 3YO Colt and Champion Sire Thunder Gulch to stand in New Zealand.

His first dam La Gueriere (by Lord At War) claimed 6 wins including Keenland Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup S., G1, Bewitch S., G3, earning US$334,628. This mare recently sold for US$610,000.
Brilliance is a half brother to Group 2 and 3 winner Lasting Approval (c. by With Approval), earner of US$510,266.

Four of the first five dams in his pedigree are Group 1 winners. Another important feature of Brilliance's pedigree is that his third dam Priceless Gem (Group One winner at 2 and 3 years) is the dam of Noble Bijou - four times New Zealand Champion sire and four times Champion Broodmare sire.
His fourth dam Searching (winner of 25 races and multiple G1) is a 3/4 sister to Busanda - the dam of Buckpasser (the first horse to earn US$1 million as a 2 year old and champion broodmare sire).

This is one of the best racehorse producing families in the American Studbook, and Brilliance offers the opportunity to upgrade your mare and improve your chances of breeding a top racehorse.

Brilliance is standing at Manorshire Stud for NZ$3,500 + GST.
